ADB/SEAS Renewable Energy Grid Integration Workshop — Through the Clean Energy Solutions Center’s Ask an Expert service, a National Renewable Energy Laboratory expert participated in the ADB grid integration-focused workshop, providing presentations on the following topics: Integrating Variable Renewable Energy into the Grid: Sources of Flexibility, Case Studies and Best Practices, Challenges of Grid Integration: Best Practices in Conducting Grid Integration Studies and Technical Assistance Resources to Support Grid Integration Resources.
The Clean Energy Grid Integration Network (CEGIN) helps governments around the world strengthen policies and programs to enable high levels of renewable energy generation for electricity systems along with related demand response, smart grid, and storage solutions.
In striving to support developing countries and emerging economies, CEGIN provides the following resources and services:
- Expert Technical Assistance — To assist countries in strengthening their clean energy grid integration policies and programs, CEGIN offers customized expert technical assistance from the Clean Energy Solutions Center and other technical institutions. Submit an assistance request.
- Training and Knowledge Exchange — CEGIN offers Web-based seminars, training workshops and other peer-to-peer learning forums to facilitate the sharing of good practices and capacity building and enable direct exchange of experiences across countries. For example, CEGIN organized a one-day training event on clean energy grid integration at the Asia Clean Energy Forum on 16 June 2015.
- Technical Resources on Good Practices for Grid Integration — CEGIN provides a curated library of the most relevant reports, data and tools to help accelerate clean energy grid integration policy design. CEGIN may also develop some additional good-practice case studies. See:
- Regional and global networks. CEGIN has established a network of Asian country officials (regulators, system operators, and energy planners) who are developing clean energy grid integration policies and programs to share good practices and solutions for grid integration. CEGIN is exploring opportunities to create similar networks in other regions.
CEGIN is jointly supported by the Clean Energy Solutions Center, 21st Century Power Partnership (21CPP), Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP) and Asia LEDS Partnership, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's (EERE) International Team.
