Renewable Energy Open E-Learning Program Available Through Leonardo Academy

4 December 2014

The Clean Energy Solutions Center has teamed with the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Working Group and Leonardo Energy to develop an e-learning course on renewable energy. This course includes a full curriculum and four separate modules comprising introductory information on a range of renewable energy topics. Each module provides a recorded presentation developed and delivered by clean energy policy experts who are members of the Clean Energy Solutions Center’s Ask an Expert policy assistance team. Modules include test questions used to assess the student’s understanding of the material, and relevant supplemental reading materials are provided to enhance the training experience.

  • Module 1 covers renewable energy technologies, including power-generation technologies and integrating renewable energy into the power grid.
  • Module 2 covers economic regulations of electric utilities, which includes the economics of renewable energy, wholesale power markets, and power system development.
  • Module 3 covers policy and regulatory frameworks with information on renewable energy strategies and policies, feed-in tariff and other support mechanisms, and conditions for success.
  • Module 4 covers energy access through renewable energy.

This training course was initiated to help maximize the energy sector's contribution to the Asia-Pacific region's economic and social well-being, while mitigating the environmental effects of energy supply and use. However, the course has global relevance and is available to all free of charge. You can register for individual modules using the above links, or register for the entire program. Course participants will receive a certificate of completion upon fulfilling all course requirements.
