The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation's Energy Access Practitioner Network and the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), hosted this webinar on the development of clean energy mini-grids in Nigeria. The webinar forms part of the UN Foundation's new country-focused webinar series that will delve into the state of energy access across different parts of the world, starting with countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
The speakers in this session presented an overview of the status of the market for mini-grids in Nigeria, recent developments and the work on clean rural mini-grids that has been done by NESP, co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and jointly implemented by GIZ, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and five partner states, in collaboration with selected local private partners. Practitioner Network members Green Village Energy Projects (GVE) and GoSolar Africa (SME Funds), who are active in the development of mini-grids in Nigeria, presented their projects and approaches to providing field-based best practices.
- Jem Porcaro, Senior Director for Energy Access, United Nations Foundation, will introduce the webinar in the context of the UN Foundation’s broader support to the Sustainable Energy for All Energy Access Practitioner Network and Clean Energy Mini Grids High Impact Opportunity (HIO).
