At the 7th Clean Energy Ministerial, the Clean Energy Solutions Center and Under 2 Coalition (U2C) announced a new partnership that extends the Solutions Center’s Ask an Expert service to all U2C subnational signatories. According to the United Nations Development Program, 50%–80% of the mitigation and adaptation actions necessary to tackle climate change will be implemented at the subnational or local levels of governance. This new partnership will enabling those governments to access no-cost expertise from an international network of experts on technical issues related to clean energy policy development and implementation. The U2C is a global alliance of more than 100 subnational governments committed to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions by 80%–95%, or limiting them to 2 tons per capita, by 2050. As part of the partnership, U2C signatories will have the opportunity to shape future Solutions Center efforts to ensure the impact of policy assistance effectively addresses greenhouse gas emissions reduction for subnational governments worldwide.
