Energy Efficiency Finance Specialist and Project Manager, Econoler
Having worked for over 12 years in corporate and public finance and banking, Mr. Marko Markov is a senior financial expert with extensive experience in developing, implementing and coordinating international and European energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. When serving as the deputy executive director of the Bulgaria Energy Efficiency Fund (BgEEF), he was responsible for assessing loan applications, making risk analyses and structuring energy efficiency-project transactions, selecting appropriate financial instruments and maintaining a constructive relationship with the various entities in the energy efficiency sector of Bulgaria; as a result, he gained strong expertise in developing and launching financial energy efficiency and renewable energy products.
Over the years, he has gained much international experience as a result of having worked in a number of countries in Europe and Asia to help implement energy efficiency projects or programs led or financed by United Nations agencies and major multilateral development banks, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank, and the World Bank. He has also worked with bilateral development organizations, such as KfW.
In the early years of his career, Mr. Markov held various financial management positions for several banks in Bulgaria, including the Tokuda Bank (as the head of the corporate and retail banking division), the Unicredit Bulbank (as a senior relationship manager in the public finance division), and the Raiffeisenbank (as the corporate lending officer and team leader).
