Land-use Planning and Practices
According to the Canadian Institute of Planners, planning refers to the “scientific, aesthetic, and orderly disposition of land, resources, facilities and services with a view to securing the physical, economic and social efficiency, health and well-being of urban and rural communities” (“About Planning”, Canadian Institute of Planners). Land-use planning provides an integrated platform to support equitable access to energy, water and food resources and the sustainable development of land to meet current and future community needs.
