Reuse

Reuse (or grey water) refers to reclaimed water from wastewater facilities, rainwater or gently used water from bathrooms, kitchens or laundries that is not contaminated with human waste. This water source may be used directly or with additional treatment. Reuse water is influential to the energy-water-food nexus, as it typically has lower energy requirements associated with treatment, making it a less energy-intensive water option for applications such as irrigation, industrial use and cooling of power systems. In regions that are water stressed, direct use of grey water for drinking is an increasing trend.
