Biofuels

Significant opportunities exist to use plant-based energy, or biomass, to generate fuels that meet growing transportation demands. Biofuels, including ethanol and biodiesel, can help to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and diversify fuel sources. Biofuel development also supports agricultural and forest product industries, stimulating local and national economies. Countries have employed an array of incentives and deployment programs to accelerate the use of biofuels. This page provides access to technical resources that policymakers can use to inform the design and implementation of policies and programs to advance deployment of biofuels technologies.
