This report compiles international case studies that address technical and economic challenges related to renewable energy generation and detail the approaches taken by individual countries. The case studies address six broad themes: 1) connecting renewable energy to the grid, 2) the impact of wholesale market and system operation arrangements on renewable energy generation, 3) the impact of renewable energy generation on conventional generation, 4) the legal, financial, and socio-economic implications of undertaking renewable energy projects on an international scale, 5) regulatory issues related to distributed generation, and 6) challenges in developing countries.
