Presentation—Energy Efficiency in New Buildings: The Danish Experience
Transcript—Webinar audio transcript
The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in partnership with the Danish Low Carbon Transition Unit under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Buildings, offered this no-cost webinar to introduce the Danish Toolkit on Energy Efficiency in New Buildings.
Denmark’s longstanding and ambitious action in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy has substantially reduced the country’s dependence on fossil fuels. These efforts provide invaluable knowledge and experience. Denmark now provides a mechanism to share its experiences with other countries through the Low Carbon Transition Unit under the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Buildings. One of the services from this unit is a series of Policy Toolkits which can help inform decisions on green growth and greenhouse gas abatement.
This webinar offers an opportunity to learn from Denmark’s knowledge and experience on how to improve the energy efficiency of new buildings and address the barriers encountered. The toolkit also offers concrete recommendations on how to realize the energy efficiency potentials of new buildings.
Panelists
Jesper Ditlefsen
Jesper Ditlefsen is the lead author of the Danish Toolkit on Energy Efficiency in New Buildings. Jesper has made products for the building industry, doing R&D, manufacturing and marketing for almost 20 years, 8 of which in France and 4 in India. Having come back to Denmark he designed and built his own low-energy house and then went on to work with energy efficiency at the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Buildings, where he is now a part of the Low Carbon Transition Unit. Jesper has a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Peter Larsen
Peter Larsen is project manager of the Danish Policy Toolkits and part of the Low Carbon Transition Unit under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Buildings. Peter has 5 years’ experience in both national and international energy and climate policies and measures. Peter holds a Master’s degree in political science.
Poul E. Kristensen
Poul E. Kristensen is the founder of Malaysia-based IEN Consultants and has been responsible for the energy design of several highly energy efficient buildings in South East Asia. Poul is a trained engineer and currently works as a consultant to the Low Carbon Transition Unit. Poul has assisted in the development of the toolkit on Energy Efficiency in New Buildings – not least with regard to the technical sheets on building geometry and design, use of daylight, air tightness, thermal insulation, cooling and lighting.
