The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in partnership with the EmBuild project, hosted this webinar on accounting for the multiple benefits of local building renovation.

Energy renovations are not just about saving on utility bills or cutting greenhouse gas emissions. They can also have a windfall of other effects for our social, economic and personal lives. In this webinar, the discussion will focus on these other effects, also known as “multiple benefits.” Multiple benefits are too often overlooked when evaluating a renovation project as policymakers, owners and construction professionals alike have a difficult time quantifying them.

Em Build logoThe Horizon2020 project EmBuild is developing a novel approach to help assess the multiple benefits of public buildings renovation. The knowledge-based method eases the weighting and evaluating of benefits for public authorities, and it is particularly adapted to regional and local characteristics, needs and challenges. For the first time, with EmBuild, municipalities can use a comprehensive approach to implement wider benefits in their decision-making processes and the necessary reporting and evaluation schemes for deep renovation measures. The wider benefits assessment is embedded in the overall EmBuild goal to support public authorities in Southeast European countries in preparing long-term strategies for mobilizing investment in the energy efficient renovation of the building stock.

The webinar presentations were followed by an interactive question and answer session with the audience.
