Developing Mauritania’s significant renewable energy resources will allow the country to grow its local economy and improve access to energy, according to a report released today by the International Renewable Energy Agency and the United Nations Development Programme. The Mauritania Renewables Readiness Assessment finds that development of renewable energy in the country would be facilitated by the existing electricity network of mini-grids.

India has approved its National Offshore Wind Energy Policy. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy regulates the use of offshore areas within the “exclusive economic zone” of the country, while the National Institute of Wind Energy has been authorized as the Nodal Agency for development of offshore wind energy in the country.
