The projects cover improving energy access in Peru; scaling up of energy efficiency in Indonesian micro, small, and medium businesses; and promoting energy efficiency construction in Viet Nam.

The East African Community recently issued a call for proposals to set up the East Africa Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. Supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Program and the Austrian Development Agency, the center will be modeled on the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the west African region.

At the UN Climate Conference in Doha (COP 18), the Solutions Center and the ClimateWorks Foundation will co-host a clean energy policy best-practices side event. Clean energy policy information (country policy data, policy and incentives databases) and tools (interactive resource maps, no-cost virtual expert assistance) will be shared. ClimateWorks will highlight two reports from its “Policies that Work” series, which provides an analytical framework to help government leaders evaluate proposed policies in terms of their economic benefits and effectiveness in reducing GHG emissions. The Collaborative Labeling & Appliance Standards Program and the International Council on Clean Transportation) will showcase their work on appliance efficiency and transport, respectively.

The Climate Finance Innovation Facility (CFIF), a programme of the Frankfurt School - UNEP Collaboration Centre, issued its third call for proposals to fund innovative financial product development activities in developing countries. CFIF aims to provide technical assistance and funding for the development of climate focused financial products and services in order to spur development in renewable energy and energy efficiency. To apply, submit a concept note by 30 September 2012.
