Presentation—Sherry Stout and Yevang Nhiavue: Resilient Energy Platform and Power Sector Resilience Planning in Lao PDR
Transcript—Webinar audio transcript
The Resilient Energy Platform was recently released—under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) partnership—to support decision makers in assessing power sector vulnerabilities, identifying resilience solutions and making informed decisions to enhance power sector resilience at all scales. The platform provides expertly curated resources, training materials, data, tools and direct technical assistance in planning resilient, sustainable and secure power systems.
Within the Resilient Energy Platform, an interactive Power Sector Resilience Planning Guidebook details a holistic process to engage stakeholders, identify vulnerabilities and implement critical actions. The process presented in the guidebook was implemented through a collaboration of the Lao PDR Government, USAID’s Clean Power Asia program and NREL to assess Lao PDR’s power sector vulnerabilities to natural, technological and human-caused threats, and to develop a resilience action plan to address the highest-risk vulnerabilities. This webinar provided a detailed look at the process undertaken in Lao PDR and presented a broader overview of the platform and guidebook.
